How ShowKeeper works
A show weekend in the order you live it. Each step says what ShowKeeper does today, and what you’ll notice when you use it.

What it does
Import a roster from a CSV with a header row, using common column names such as Call Name, Breed, Class and Owner.
Or key them in one at a time at the Entry Portal, where each entry is checked as you type.
What you’ll notice
- One file with a header row. Columns ShowKeeper doesn’t recognise are skipped.
- Dogs and cats: pick Dog Show or Cat Show when you start.
- Importing a roster is free. The Entry Portal needs a Weekend Pass.
Rules checked as you type
What it does
Checks each entry’s age and class against AKC, UKC, CFA or TICA rules as you key it in, and flags eligibility problems before the ring.
Ages are worked out on the show date, not on the day you key the entry in.
What you’ll notice
- Bred-by-Exhibitor (AKC) and Breeder/Handler (UKC) entries are checked: the owner has to be a breeder of record.
- CFA Championship and Premiership entries, and TICA Adult Championship and Adult Alter entries, need a registration number.
- A CFA provisional breed, such as the Lykoi, can’t be entered for Championship or Premiership awards.
What the checks say
- AKC
AKC Rule (Ch 3, Sec 8): For Bred-by-Exhibitor, the owner must be a breeder of record.
- AKC
AKC Rule: Dogs must be at least 6 months old to compete in Regular Classes.
- UKC
UKC Junior class is for dogs 12 to under 24 months.
- CFA
Eligibility: Lykoi is a CFA Provisional breed and cannot compete for Championship/
Premiership awards. - TICA
A TICA registration number is required for Adult Championship and Adult Alter entries.
The judge’s book
What it does
Judges sign the book on screen, and the class results (placements, absent and excused, cat awards) are stamped with a SHA‑256 fingerprint.
What you’ll notice
- The judge’s book has an Outdoor Mode: black on white, with large armband numbers, for reading in sun.
- Outdoor Mode is one button in the book. It isn’t remembered, so switch it on each time you open the book.
In today’s app the Judge’s Book opens from Settings, Cloud, Judge View Override, with a Weekend Pass.

What ShowKeeper is not
Worth knowing before you plan a show around it.
