Local-first data privacy

ShowKeeper is built on a local-first architecture. This means your event data, exhibitor rosters, and entry information live primarily on your local device. Unlike cloud-only platforms, your show data is not stored on remote servers by default (the only exceptions are the optional cloud features described below), ensuring superior data privacy and complete control over your information.

Information we collect

When you use ShowKeeper, we may collect limited information necessary to provide our services, including: the Google account details a club signs in with, exhibitor entries submitted through the Direct Entry Portal, optional cloud sync data (only when you explicitly choose to sync), confirmation of plan purchases, and usage analytics to improve the software. Each is explained below.

Signing in with Google

Clubs sign in with a Google account to use ShowKeeper's cloud features. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication, a Google service, which provides us with the basic details of that Google account, such as its name and email address. We never see your Google password.

Direct Entry Portal

A club can share a link that lets exhibitors submit entries online. The portal collects the exhibitor's name, email address and phone number, and the animal's call name, registered name, registration number, breed, sex, date of birth and class. These entries are stored in Google Cloud Firestore, and only the club that owns that show can read them. When the club downloads the entries into ShowKeeper, they are deleted from the cloud copy; after that they exist only in the club's own copy of ShowKeeper on its own computer.

The portal asks how the exhibitor plans to pay, but it does not take payments or ask for card details. Clubs collect entry fees themselves; the fees never pass through ShowKeeper.

Optional cloud sync

If a club turns on cloud sync, ShowKeeper stores the club's show roster in Google Cloud Firestore under that club's account. Cloud sync is off unless you choose to use it.

Payments

Weekend Pass purchases are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe; ShowKeeper never sees or stores your card number. We receive confirmation of the purchase so we can unlock your plan.

Usage analytics

The web version of ShowKeeper may use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used, for example which screens and features are opened and what kind of device and browser they are opened on.

Fonts on this website

This website loads its typefaces from Adobe Fonts. When you open a page, your browser requests the fonts from Adobe's servers (use.typekit.net and p.typekit.net), which receive your IP address and the address of the page, as with any web request. Adobe uses these requests to serve the fonts and to count page views for font licensing. The website itself uses no analytics and sets no cookies.

How we use your information

We use collected information solely to provide and improve ShowKeeper's services. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We share information with the service providers named on this page (Google, for Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Google Analytics for Firebase; and Stripe, for payments) only as needed to run those features. Analytics data is used exclusively for product improvement.

Data storage & security

Event data is stored locally on your device. Anything held in the cloud (Direct Entry Portal submissions and, if you opt into cloud sync, your show roster) is encrypted in transit and at rest. You may delete your cloud-synced data at any time, and your local data remains under your sole control.
